FOLLOW JESUS

“As Jesus passed on from there, He saw a man named Matthew sitting at the tax office. And He said to him, Follow Me. So he arose and followed Him.” (Matthew 9:9)

Matthew obeyed the Lord. Obedience is something people do not think much about in this so called ‘modern’ age. For instance, do you? A great deal is heard about independence, self-expression, and freedom. Yet obedience to God is the way to freedom—freedom from all that is wrong and loyalty to all that is good and holy.

If you would like to possess all those wonderful gifts of the Holy Spirit that Jesus promised after His Ascension, i.e., peace, joy, and God with you, then you must learn to obey. The Ten Commandments not only show us God’s law for His people in the Old Testament, it also gives us insight into the nature of God, Himself. It is our school for better living. Start with them; consider the nature of God and then you will discover what Jesus meant when He told His disciples to love one another.

“Teach me, my God and King,
In all things Thee to see,
And what I do in anything,
To do it as for Thee.”

“…Serving together as God directs.” (Philippians 1:27).
