FORGIVENESS (3)

“So My heavenly Father also will do to you if each of you, from his heart, does not forgive his brother his trespasses.” (Matthew 18:35 NKJV)

Forgiveness is a two-way street. Sometimes the Lord’s Prayer is read and used so often that many generally do not remember what is meant. If you are sincere in your prayer, you will notice that you ask God to forgive you on the condition that you just as readily forgive the mean, unkind things that others may do to you. Are you sometimes more hurt in pride by the wrongs that others do to you than by the things you say about and do to others? How often do you feel that others are worse than yourself?

As you pray for forgiveness of your own sinfulness toward God and others, it should be real enough so that your thoughtfulness should cause you heartache and a real sense of guilt. Then God’s loving forgiveness means something more than words and you will be more ready to forgive others as you expect to be forgiven.

“Dear Lord and Father of mankind, forgive my feverish ways; Reclothe me in my rightful mind; in purer life Thy service find, In deeper reverence, praise.”

Pray the Father will help you to be as forgiving toward others as you expect God to be toward you.
