HEARERS

“But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves.” (James 1:22 NKJV)

“Man overboard!” In the stillness of the dark night, the words carry a frightening message to all parts of the big ship and instantly everyone hearing them, jump to the rescue. A deep inner sense of duty calls each hearer into immediate action to bring all possible help to the one in danger of losing life.

In just the same way, it is the duty of every Christian who hears the Word of God, to let that Word have an immediate and positive reaction in his/her life. That Word may sometimes be written in a style and language that is not the easiest to understand, but the central meaning of God’s commandments can be heard and understood by even the youngest of children.

Jesus tells you again and again that to love God and mankind are the two great commandments. It is your duty (if you are a believer) and also your privilege to let these words, through an earnest faith, be the true building stones of your life. Hearing the Word of God, you are called to put it into action in your life.

Pray that God will open your ears and heart to the true meaning of His Word of Life, so that in your life at home, school, work and play, you may be able to follow His example of love, so that others may be enriched through you.
