JUST BE PATIENT

“Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love.” (Ephesians 4:2)

Do you remember as a child, anxiously awaiting a special event, and your parents telling you ‘just be patient?’

Remember how your children looked forward to Christmas, or a birthday, expecting gifts or presents? Did you ever say, “Please, be patient”?

It’s easy to become upset waiting to see a doctor or dentist. We sometimes think about what might be wrong, even imagine an emergency. We would be much better to “just be patient.”

“A hot-tempered man stirs up dissension; but a patient man calms a quarrel” (Proverbs 15:18). “A man’s wisdom gives him patience; it is to his glory to overlook an offense” (Proverbs 19:11). “But if we hope for what we do not see, we eagerly wait for it with perseverance” (Romans 8:25 NKJV).

Jesus is patiently waiting for each of us to obey God’s commands and follow Him. As the song states, “Jesus is calling the weary to rest, Jesus is waiting, Jesus is pleading. He is calling today and patiently waiting for us to respond.”
