KEYS
“If you forgive the sins of any, they are forgiven them; if you retain the sins of any, they are retained.” (John 20:23 NKJV)
Keys play an important role in the affairs of everyday life. They open the door to your work, pleasure and a host of activities and treasures of life.
Symbolically, you have surely spoken of some things in life as being ‘keys.’ Perhaps you have talked about the key to happiness, security, peace of mind, etc.; and perhaps you have referred to such things as love, humility, and kindness as being keys that open the doors to such realities in life.
In such a way Jesus spoke of the keys of the Kingdom of Heaven, talking to the apostles. They had great power, given them by God, through the Holy Spirit. However, the power of the keys of forgiveness and salvation that opens the door to Heaven, which they had to offer, belonged to Jesus Christ. He alone brings forgiveness. Christ is the power of the keys to the Kingdom. Mankind needs only Jesus Christ.
Give thanks to Almighty God for your creation, preservation, and salvation through Jesus Christ. Pray that you will ever look to Him for the forgiveness of sins and assurance of eternal life.
