PREACHING CHRIST

“For I determined not to know anything among you except Jesus Christ and Him crucified.” (1 Corinthians 2:2 NKJV) “Preach the word!” (2 Timothy 4:2 NKJV) “Preach Christ crucified” (1 Corinthians 1:22 NKJV)

In thinking of the responsibility that was his, a preacher once said, “The pulpit is an awful place; we preach for eternity.”

Above all else, according to the apostle Paul, a preacher is in your midst to teach and preach the Good News of Jesus Christ, i.e., “Christ crucified,” “Jesus Christ and Him crucified,” “The Word.” By Holy Scripture, the main emphasis being the crucifixion of Jesus Christ and the eternal salvation His precious blood offers mankind.

God has chosen this means to communicate Himself to your life. Mindful of your salvation, and with the Word of Life his responsibility, a preacher of the Gospel must bring “Christ crucified” to bear upon the lives of those who will listen, with all the power the Holy Spirit can give him and with the authority of the Word of God, thundering the truth “Thus saith the Lord.”

A spiritual Gospel preacher must warn men of modern heresies that long for “modern man’s attention,” ignoring Christ and Holy Scripture. The Word a gospel preacher echoes is the only Word that rings with the eternal authority of Him who said, “I am the way, the truth, and the life; no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.”

Your responsibility is to hear and know the sure Word of God, working out your own salvation.

Pray that Almighty God will bless preachers of the Gospel who strive diligently to guide mankind to Jesus Christ. Pray that God will grant them power to truthfully preach God’s Holy Word, focusing on Jesus Christ and Him crucified, leading men ever closer to the Savior.
