SEEK THE LORD

“...see the Lord...though He be not far from every one of us...” (Acts 17:27)

“For in Him we live, and move, and have our being...” (Acts 17:28) Did you know that in the Lord we all “live and move and have our being” whether we recognize it or not? We are all God’s children, but some of us don’t recognize that fact or live accordingly.

We have a choice to make in life. Will we accept the Lord or reject Him? It’s up to us. God has given us free will to make that choice. He loves us all, but we have to make the decision to love Him. And it is His desire that we all come to Him (II Peter 3:9). He has done His part. He has created us, and He has given us a Savior. The road to eternal life should be our destination. Will we accept that Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ, or will we reject Him?

Paul, an apostle of Christ, tells us in Acts 17:27-28, that all people should seek the Lord and that He is not far from every one of us. Verse 28 tells us that “For in Him we live, and move, and have our being.”

We find in two of the gospels, Matthew 7:7 and Luke 11:9, “Seek and ye shall find.” Also, “He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him” (Hebrews 11:6). In order to seek and find and get to know our Lord, we must study His Word. The Bible is God’s letter to us. It is His way of talking to us.

When we recognize that we need God and that apart from Him, we can do nothing (John 15:5), that’s when we should diligently seek His face; and we are promised that we will find Him. We are also promised, when we seek and find Him, that He will never leave us, nor forsake us (Hebrews 13:5). Isn’t that a comforting thought? May we all seek Him and find Him.

We need to have the mind-set of the Psalmist, when he wrote, “When Thou saidst, Seek ye My face; my heart said unto Thee, Thy face, Lord, will I seek” (Psalm 27:8).
