WORTHY OF THE VOCATION

There are vocations or professions in life that carry with them a certain dignity and respect. A doctor, a college professor, a president are among those for whom we have respect because of the position they hold. All of the above should be dedicated servants and much is expected from them in both ethics and dedication to duty. Yet above all of these is the profession of a Christian.

Paul, the Apostle, said, "I therefore the prisoner of the Lord, beseech you that you walk worthy of the vocation wherewith you are called" (Eph. 4:1 KJV). If you are a Christian, you belong to the highest vocation to which anyone can attain upon this earth. You have also taken on the greatest responsibility that any person can have on this earth. You have not become just a church member, but you have taken on a life that carries with it the highest moral demands that anyone can have. This calling goes with you as a student, into the work place, and above all in your home and your responsibility to train and nourish your children. Like any respected vocation, you do not do it because you are paid to do it, you do it because it is a driving force in your life and like Paul you say, "Woe to me if I preach not the Gospel."

Have you had a vocational check-up lately?
