BENEFITS OF THE LORD'S SUPPER
“In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of His grace.” (Ephesians 1:7 NKJV)
There are many spiritual benefits connected with the Lord’s Supper.
One great and marvelous benefit is that of eating and drinking at the table of the Lord, remembering His terrible sacrifice for mankind, a sacrifice given and shed for you for the remission of your sins.
The Lord’s Supper is a pledge of forgiveness. Christ comes to you around the table and says, “My body is given for you and my blood is shed for you.” All your wrongdoings are blotted out in the blood of Christ. You are forgiven absolutely and Christ assures you, He will remember your sin no more.
A second benefit from The Lord’s Supper is a feast of remembrance. Christ said, “This do in remembrance of me.” As a believer, you are to keep in mind today and always that Christ became your substitute on Calvary. He died once and for all and because of His death you will live.
The third spiritual benefit is a confession of faith. He who partakes in this inspiring Supper confesses Christ before men. As you get up from the church building pew, you silently declare before the whole congregation, “I believe in Jesus Christ as my Savior and Redeemer.”
Thank God for the sacrifice of His Son, Jesus Christ and thank Him for the benefits which are yours through your reception of the Lord’s Supper.
