MATTHEW, THE PUBLICAN

His earthy calling -a taxgatherer
His heavenly calling - follow Me
His immediate response - and he arose
His spontaneous liberality - made
His loving anxiety - invited publicans (not mentioned in Matt.)
His commendable modesty - the Gospel that bears his name


MEEK, BLESSED ARE THE
"Take My yoke...I am meek and lowly" (Matt. 11:29)
The Christian should:
Receive the Word with meekness (James 1:21)
Bring forth the fruit of the Spirit - meekness (Gal. 5:22, 23)
Follow after - meekness (1 Tim. 6:11)
Have a meek and quiet spirit (1 Pet. 3:4)
Bear testimony to the hope with meekness (1 Pet. 3:15)
Restore the erring brother with meekness (Gal. 6:1)
The Blessed Results:
They shall eat and be satisfied (Ps. 22:26)
