Lord’s Supper
“And as they were eating, Jesus took bread, blessed and broke it, and gave it to the disciples and said, Take, eat; this is My body. Then He took the cup and gave thanks, and gave it to them, saying, Drink from it, all of you.”
(Matthew 26:26-27 NKJV)
“The Lord’s Supper,” “Communion” are names applied to the meal which Christ had with His disciples in the upper room on Thursday evening. They had gathered together to celebrate the feast of the Passover, which commemorated the angel of death passing over the Israelite homes during the series of plagues in Egypt. Unleaven bread and wine were used in this feast. The Lord’s Supper, Communion, was started by Christ in order that the followers of the Savior might always keep in mind what He has done for you and all of mankind.
Your sins and the sins of all mankind placed Christ on the cross between two thieves. Christ voluntarily gave Himself because of His love for all the children of men. Christians think of Christ’s sacrifice when partaking of the Lord’s Supper on Sunday, the first day of the week.
Pray to Almighty God and thank Him for the sacrifice of His only Son on the cross in order that you might live with Him forever.
