God's Word (Bibliology): The Bible is one of the most convincing historical examples of God's over-arching providence. This study seeks to show that when God revealed the contents of the Bible to man, He selected and inspired them to write the texts. The Bible did not pop into existence like a “Jack-out-of-the-box.”  It has a beginning, a continuing, and a conclusion covering about 1500 years. If we understand this we will not open the Bible and read a short isolated statement as if it were a fortune cookie with a special message for us alone. The Bible was not dropped on our doorstep like the daily newspaper. It did not flash out of the sky like a bolt of lightening. It did not mysteriously rise like early morning wisps of fog from the surface of some plaid, cosmic lake.  It is not a collection of dreams or a repository of magical tricks. No. The Bible is an historical saga. It is real, practical, genuine. Although rooted and grounded in the God of the universe, the Bible comes to us as Sacred Scripture from the pen of God's men who received His revelation and were inspired by His Holy Spirit. The Bible has a solid textual base and shows an accurate historical dimension making it logical to accept the theological teaching of Scripture on the basis of faith. We hope and pray that this brief treatment of such a vast and important subject will heighten your appreciation for the Bible and lead to a very serious study of its contents.
